Understanding Christian Mission will probably serve as a standard textbook for a long time. We all owe Scott Sunquist a debt of gratitude for what was obviously a labor of love.
“For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your [or, our] life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory” (Colossians 3:3-4).
Throughout this book we see an emphasis upon radical discipleship, a willingness to give up all to follow Christ, that shames comfortable believers in the West and exemplifies both the core of this book and the chief lesson which we can learn from our brothers and sisters in China.
