Immanuel

“And they shall call His name ‘Immanuel,’ which is translated, ‘God with us’” (Matthew 1:23).

Dear Praying Friends:

In many churches around the world, yesterday was the First Sunday in Advent, beginning the season in which we remember the first coming of Christ in humility and look forward to his second advent in glory. The choir in which Dori sings presented a beautiful rendition of “O Come, O Come, Immanuel” during the worship service as part of that celebration.

When Jesus was born, the divine Son of God came to be with us as a little baby who was also fully divine. From then on, Christians have worshiped him as “Immanuel, God with us.”

Christ is now enthroned bodily in heaven, but amidst all the pressures and pains of this life, he is with us, and even in us, through his Holy Spirit, who is given to all who truly repent and trust in Christ for salvation.

What a comfort and source of strength that is!

Yours in the Lord’s presence, power, and peace,
Wright
