He Is Our Life
July 14, 2025
“They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of your pleasures [or, delights]. For with you is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light” (Psalm 36:8-9).
Dear Praying Friends:
Like all the Psalms, this one points to Christ as the giver of true life and the source of true light. Consider:
“In Him was life” (John 1:3).
“I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25).
“Your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, you also will appear with Him in glory” (Colossians 3:3b-4).
We are all desperately longing for life. Real life. Something that will satisfy our deepest longings, quench our most desperate thirst.
Sadly, to paraphrase a once-popular song, we are looking for life in all the wrong places: Food, drink, sex, human love, drugs, entertainment, excitement, the approval of others, success, possessions, position, power, pleasures – the list is endless. And so is our search, for none of these can satisfy us more than temporarily.
Jesus, being God, is the only one who can fill that gaping hole in our souls, and feed us with lasting delights, the pleasures of his love and all his goodness, truth, and beauty. Let’s seek him above all else, every hour of every day!
Thank you for praying last week. God enabled me to finish the book review I began months ago, post a new story for the Biographical Dictionary of Chinese Christianity, write more on Hebrews, and call several people.
The founder-leader of the Chinese Sunday School class has asked me to assist him by leading the discussion each week. I’m happy to do this, of course. It’s great to be back into in-person ministry to Chinese.
The Lord really blessed the student missions conference in Taiwan last week, I’m happy to say.
Yours in his endless life,
Wright
