“Good and upright is the LORD; therefore, He teaches sinners in the way. The humble he guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way” (Psalm 25:8-9).
Dear Praying Friends:
David has confessed his many sins, and now he seeks direction from God. How shall he proceed? What should he do now? He’s already made a huge mess of things. Is he totally lost, or can he still call upon God for wisdom and direction?
He believes that God is good, that is, merciful (7). Based on that goodness, he now affirms that this good and holy God will tell sinners how to get up and go on.
Should this surprise us? After all, in one sense, our Lord has no other choice, for “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). He has no one else to lead in right paths but sinners!
But what type of sinners does he guide?
“The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way” (9).
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, not only to forgive our sins, but to instruct. If we humble ourselves before him, admitting our wickedness and casting ourselves meekly upon him for everything, including wisdom, he will graciously steer us through the tangle that we have created and kindly take us to the place he now wants us to go.
Thank you for praying last week.
God did guide us as we began to plan for the near future, and he strengthened us to get a few things done.
